Prospective Students
Thanks for your interest in joining my research program!
Mentoring Philosophy
As a mentor my primary objectives are to promote the excitement of discovery, inspire my students to ask innovative questions about the natural world, and develop strong critical thinking skills. Along the way, I strive to help students develop confidence in themselves as scientists and professionals and an appreciation for the diversity of their peers. To accomplish this I treat each of my mentees as a colleague, deserving of the same respect as any senior scientist. I work closely with my students to understand their short- and long-term goals and needs, and collaboratively develop a suitable, flexible mentoring plan. While my mentoring style is hands-on, I do believe that my thesis students need to have a strong personal investment and ownership of their project(s).
Undergraduate Students
I am currently accepting undergraduate students interested in doing research (DIR and/or honors thesis). If you are interested in joining my research group please contact me and tell me about your research interests and how they intersect with my research.
Graduate Students
I am currently accepting students interested in obtaining their master's degree. I am not accepting PhD students. Various factors play into acceptance including the students interests and their intersection with mine, the student's background and qualifications, and funding availability. If you are interested in joining my research group, please send me an email and tell me a little bit about yourself, your research interests, and how your interests intersect with my research group. If you have a CV/resume, please include that as well. Also, please take a look at my resources page for valuable graduate school resources.
